The makers of Telugu film Magadheera approached the Hyderabad court on Wednesday to seek injunction against the release of the Hindi film Raabta starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon. Magadheera was directed by SS Rajamouli.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to Twitter to share the news.

Magadheera was a love story between Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal, set in different time zones. Now, the makers of the Telugu film have alleged that the upcoming film Raabta has plagiarised the core of Magadheera. The Hyderabad court will hear the case on June 1 to decide the release of Raabta, which is slated to hit the screens on June 9.

Magadheera became a landmark film in Telugu cinema, which paved the way for several period films like Arundhathi, Panchamukhi and of course, the Baahubali series.

Made on a lavish budget, Magadheera minted more than Rs 200 crore at the box office and completed its 1000-day theatrical run in Andhra Pradesh.

Raabta, has been directed by Dinesh Vijan. Apart from Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles, Raabta stars Jim Sarbh and Varun Sharma in pivotal roles. Rajkummar Rao has a guest appearance in the film.
